Christ Fellowship Church, COGOP,
formerly “Pollock Street Church of God of Prophecy
Selma, North Carolina
In the summer of 1961, Sisters Ruby Bailey and Fidelia Stewart, members of the Durham (Grant Street-Now Monument of Faith-COGOP) Church, along with friends began conducting Sunday afternoon prayer meetings in a building called "Helping Hand Club Building." This location was difficult to find, so the congregation relocated across the street from our present property. Later, the Lord inspired Flora Graham of Baltimore, Maryland to move to Selma, North Carolina, a place she had never heard about. She obeyed the voice of God and during the summer, the same year, Sis. Graham conducted a revival where our present property stands. Plans were to organize a Church of God in Christ.
However, Alexander Gilmore and wife, Eva were conducting a revival for Sis. Bailey across the street. Mysteriously, the two services merged. On August 18, 1961, the church was set in order by the late Bishop Alexander Gilmore with six charter members- namely: Flora and Joseph Graham, Dora Barnes-Black, Louise Pettiway, Arvella McDaniel, and Cecelia Laney. Flora Graham was appointed pastor with Ruby Bailey serving as clerk and treasurer. Sis. Graham served as pastor from 1961-1964. Due to ill health, Sister Graham was replaced by Billy J. Siler who served as pastor from 1964-1965. Robert Lee Woods would follow Bro. Siler as pastor serving from 1965 until 1967. Bro. Woods would be followed Bro. Fred Henderson who served from 1967 until 1970. Bro. Henderson would be followed by Sis. Nellie McCoy who served as pastor from 1970 until 1976. Sis. McCoy would be followed by the late Sis. Eva Gilmore who served from 1976 until 1979 as pastor. Sis. Gilmore would be followed by the late Bro. James Shepherd who served from 1979 until 1985. Bro. Shepherd would be followed by Bro. Willie Walters as pastor who served from 1985 until 1990. Bro. Walters would be followed by Bishop James H. Shaw, as pastor who has served from 1990 until 2017. On July 31, 2017, The Reverend Jacqueline Kehinde was appointed as the new Pastor. During the various tenures of our former pastors and under the leadership of our current pastor, the Pollock Street Church has grown and is continuing to grow and flourish.
